School of Allied Health Sciences at Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation – DU, VIMS Hospital campus, Salem, marked World AIDS Day 2024 with a series of impactful events. The Red Ribbon Club organized an AIDS Awareness Rally & Drama Show at Salem Junction & Uzhavar Sandhai to spread knowledge about HIV prevention & control. The rally was flagged off by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Abinaya, the Revenue Divisional Officer, Salem West, who emphasized the importance of awareness in combating the spread of AIDS. Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean & Director - AHS, delivered an insightful talk on HIV/AIDS prevention & control, educating the public on the significance of awareness. Mr. Nallathampi,District Supervisor, District AIDS Control & Prevention Unit, elaborated on the issue & led the gathering in a pledge to fight against AIDS. Mrs. Prema, Deputy Director of Agriculture (Agri Business), Marketing Committee Complex, Uthamasolapuram, also spoke about the significance of World AIDS Day. A group of 120 enthusiastic students participated in an awareness drama show at Uzhavar Sandhai, creatively highlighting the importance of HIV/AIDS awareness. The event successfully educated the public and rallied support for the cause.

School of Allied Health Sciences, VIMS Hospital Campus, Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation (Deemed to be University), Salem. On the occasion of World Kindness Day 2024, The Bhumi Club organized a successful Grocery Donation Drive. This program was aimed at contributing essential grocery items to the Bodhimaram Old Age Home, Kondappanaickenpatti, Salem. The initiative was a heartfelt effort by students, faculty & staff to make a positive impact on the lives of the elderly residents of the home. Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean & Director, School of Allied Health Sciences, formally handing over the grocery items to the management of the Bodhimaram Old Age Home. During his speech, he emphasized the significance of World Kindness Day, highlighting the importance of compassion, empathy & community service. He praised the active involvement of the students in the donation drive & stressed how such acts of kindness not only help those in need but also promote a culture of giving & mutual respect within society.The grocery items were graciously received by the management of Bodhimaram Old Age Home, including Dr. B. Ramesh Kumar, Founder, Mrs. R. Rajarajeshwari, Secretary, Mrs. J. Prema, Treasurer & Service volunteers. Mrs. Rajarajeshwari conveyed their heartfelt thanks, acknowledging the selfless efforts of the students & faculty in making the donation drive a success.
Menstrual Hygiene Awareness

School of Allied Health Sciences, VMRF-DU, Salem.We are pleased to share the success of the Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Lecture organized by the Gender Sensitisation Cell of SAHS on November 21, 2024. The event aimed to raise awareness, break taboos, and foster a more informed and inclusive dialogue on menstrual hygiene. Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean and Director, SAHS, delivered the presidential address. Prof. Tamilchudar.R,President of Gender sensitisation cell of SAHS highlighted the importance of menstrual hygiene and its effects on overall health. Our resource person Mrs. Saranya Gopinath, Managing Partner, GoGo Enterprises, shared her expertise on menstrual hygiene, debunking common myths and taboos surrounding menstruation. A demonstration of organic sanitary napkins was shown, highlighting their benefits and proper use. Nearly 250 students benefited from the session, showing a significant increase in awareness and knowledge about menstrual hygiene.

The event, held on 15th November 2024 at Dr. ASG Auditorium, witnessed active participation from 50 students, who enthusiastically presented their innovative ideas. We were honored to have Mr. Mohan, Project Associate, Startup TN, Salem Regional Hub, as the Chief Guest. He delivered an insightful speech on innovation and entrepreneurship, inspiring students to think creatively and explore entrepreneurial opportunities. Students efforts were recognized and rewarded with prizes, encouraging their spirit of creativity and innovation.

The programme begins by the Blood Donation Drive by the students of SAHS with the support of red ribbon club and Guest Lecture Programme , began with the traditional Tamil Thai Vazhthu, a cultural invocation that set the tone for the proceedings. Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean & Director of the School of Allied Health Sciences (AHS) at Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation – DU, Salem and chief guest, Group Captain. Mr. V. Muruganandam, the Commanding Officer of the Tamil Nadu Air SQN (Tech) NCC, Salem visited the Aircraft Model Display which is done by the NCC cadets of SAHS and honoured them with the certificates. Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean & Director of the School of Allied Health Sciences (AHS) at Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation – DU, Salem, extended a warm welcome to the guest and audience. He highlighted about the AIR FORCE DAY and unit’s importance in supporting the institution’s mission to develop leadership, discipline, and a spirit of service among students. Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar noted that the NCC Airforce unit will offer cadets valuable training and skills beyond their academic studies, while embodying core values of patriotism, integrity, and commitment. We are proud to announce that the National Service Scheme, 5 TN Air Sqn (Tech) NCC, Salem, Environmental Students Club & Bhumi Club, in collaboration with the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, successfully organized the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign Programme 2024. This initiative included a poster making competition themed "Clean India Green India" & an engaging essay writing competition titled "Role of Youth in Swachh Bharat." We are proud to announce that 200 enthusiastic students actively participated in these events on the 23rd & 24th of September 2024 at the SAHS Campus. This campaign not only fostered creativity & awareness but also highlighted the vital role of youth in promoting a cleaner & greener India.

SAHS Youth Club, National Service Scheme & Bhumi Club has organized Say No to drugs – Anti Drug Awareness & Pledge against Drug Abuse Programme at Aattayampatti Bus stand, Salem. Student’s played a mime show about Say No to Drugs & anti-drug awareness programme. It was a powerful & impactful way to communicate the dangers of drug abuse and promote a drug free lifestyle. Mr. Selvaraj, Tahsildar, Salem South read the drug abuse pledge in the presence of public & Students and notices were also distributed Cheif guest Mrs. Indirani, Inspector of Police & Mr. Thangaraj, Sub inspector of Police, Attayampatti Police Station, Mr. Rajavel, Revenue Inspector, Salem South, Mr. Saravana Kumar, Village Administrative Officer, Attayampatti & Mr. Manikandan, National Youth Volunteer, NYKS, Veerapandi Block, Salem were felicitated. Around 200 students and faculties actively participated in thanking the community and took photos of the same. Then, photos were pinned in the college. Good deeds was celebrated joyfully. This event aimed to instill a sense of gratitude and appreciation among our students towards the community workers who selflessly serve our society. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to acknowledge their hard work and dedication. The event was a huge success, and we are proud of our students for taking the initiative to express their gratitude. We believe that such events play a vital role in shaping the values and character of our students, and we look forward to organizing more such events in the future.

On the occasion of World Environment Day 2024, The Environmental Science Club and National Service Scheme - SAHS & Bhumi Club and Department of Forestry, Salem District, TN Govt Organised the Cleanup drive from Yercaud Foot Hills to 60 ft Bridge and cleared the plastic waste of nearly 75kg. Chief guest for the program were: Kashyap Shashank Ravi, IFS., District Forest Officer, Salem Forest Division, Salem. Dr. Selvakumar, Ph.D Assistant Forest Conservator Salem Forest Division, Salem. The cleanup drive was a huge success, with the collective efforts of the students, faculty members, and government officials. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of preserving our environment and the impact of plastic waste on our ecosystem. The event also included an awareness program, where the guests emphasized the need for sustainable living and the role of the younger generation in protecting the environment. On the occasion of National Recycling Day and World Pollution Control Day 2023, the Environmental Students Club organized a Recycling Drive near Aatayampatti police station on November 30, 2023. Our esteemed Dean and Director, Dr. B. Sendilkumar, inaugurated the drive with Mr. Bala Murugan, SSI of Aatayampatti police station. Approximately 80 students actively campaigned door-to-door, stressing recycling and proper waste disposal. They not only collected trash from local shops and residences but also demonstrated creativity by crafting innovative works from the gathered waste. Cash prizes were given for outstanding creations, and certificates were presented by Chief Guest Prof. Dr. R.S. Shanmuga Sundaram, Director-Students Welfare, VMRF-DU Salem, and Ms. Brindha, EVS Director, VMRF-DU Salem.

More than 150 students actively participated in the Gala from Salem' new bus stand to Suramangalam police station by creating awareness through different attractive costumes, Dance performances, Singing, and Drama in public. Mr.Sathish Zumba dance Asian trainer, Dr.Ashok Managing director of Saravana Hospital, and Mr.Sivaganaselvan, Rotary club coordinator felicitated the event as Guests. 300 participants actively did Yoga to spread awareness of the Importance of Yoga in our day today life.

Nearly 100 students exhibited their crafts from waste and photography in the competition. National Road Safety Month- Stress Management

"Road Safety Week" is observed throughout the country every year in order to highlight and emphasize the need for safe roads. This year instead of "Road, Safety Week", a month-long campaign "National Road Safety Month" will be observed from 18th January 2021 to 17th February 2021.This campaign initiated by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. The main aim of the observance is to create awareness of road safety to public and keeping in mind the increasing prevalence of deaths owing to road accidents.
On account of this, NSS Unit, School of Allied Health Sciences, Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (DU) jointly with Salem South Regional Transport Office & Department of Traffic Police, Salem (Dt) organized an awareness programme for students and drivers on 6th Feb 2021.
Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Director, SAHS delivered a Welcome Address and insisted about a “death ratio due to road accident & its reason and the importance of safe driving”. Mr.Saravanabhavan, RTO, Salem South RTO Office, Mr.Rajamani, Regional Motor Vehicle Inspector, Salem South, & Mr.Rajarajan , Traffic Inspector, Salem were invited as a chief & special guests of this program. They are delivered a special talk on “Importance of wearing helmet and seat belt, importance to follow the traffic rules and procedure to take vehicle license ,etc”.
Nearly 100 students, faculties, drivers were participated in this programme. At the end of the programme road safety pamphlets are issued to all the participants. The program was well organized by Dr.R.Dhanasekar & Ms.M.P.Varshini, NSS Coordinators, SAHS and Dr.Senthilnathan, Admin Manager, SAHS .

On the Account of World Cancer Day- Feb 4, 2021, School of Allied Health Sciences Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation conducted a National Seminar on “Novel Cancer Therapy Technology and Biological Effects” followed by an Awareness Rally.
In the National Seminar the Welcome address was given by Dr.B.Sendilkumar,Director, SAHS,VMRF(DU). Followed by that a homage for two minutes and a Tribute video was played to Padma Vibhusan Dr.V.Shanta for her dedication and service towards the Cancer Community at The Cancer Institute, Adyar Chennai. The seminar session included talk by Mr A.Selvakumar Chief Radiotherapy Technologist & President of Indian Society of Radiolographers & Technologists(ISRT), Indra Prasatha Apollo Hospital New Delhi, Dr.B.Grace Mercy Priscilla Assistant Professor, Department of Radiation Oncology, Madras Medical College, Chennai and Dr. Aruna Rajendran, Assistant Professor, Department of Pediatric Hematology, Institute of Child Health, Egmore, Chennai.
The seminar was attended by more than 700 participants from various institutions across the country.
Followed by the National seminar, National Service Scheme Unit, School of Allied Health Sciences, Salem, Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (DU) conducted an Awareness rally on “Causes and Prevention of Cancer” .
Dr.P.S.Manoharan, Pro Vice Chancellor VMRF-DU & Mr.Sivaranjan District Sports and Youth Welfare Officer were invited as the Chief Guest. Dr.K.Meenakshi Sundaram, Medical Director, VIMS, was invited as a Guest of Honor .
Dr.B.Sendilkumar Dean and Director, AHS-VMRF Presided over the Awareness programme .The rally was Flagged off by Chief guests & Special guest of the programme. Around 100 Allied Health Sciences students, teaching faculties & Non-Teaching faculties participated in this rally from Salem collector office and closed at the Mahatma Gandhi Stadium.
Placards with slogans was carried , Slogans recitation on Causes & Prevention of Cancer and also distribution pamphlets with elaborate information for the public to create awareness were done by the students.
At the end of the programme , the students performed logo formation of cancer and they insisted the public to join hands to support cancer patients, through their hand prints and signature.
The entire programme was well organized with proper safety protocols by the NSS Coordinators, Faculties and Non-Teaching Faculties of SAHS.

On behalf SAHS Youth Club & National Service Scheme, School of Allied Health Sciences, VMRF - DU Organized Prabhatpheri On December 1st 2020. The Public of Periyaseergaapadi Samathuvapuram widely Participated in this Event with Prescribed Guidelines and Social Distancing.
AS per the directions from Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), School of Allied Health Sciences, VIMS Hospital Campus, Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation,
- Organized a Fit India Prabhat Pheri from 1st December 2020 to 6th December, 2020.
- NSS Volunteers and SAHS Youth Club members actively participated and uploaded the photo undertaken by them.
- Nearly 490 students uploaded their activity undertaken by them.
- On completion of the event SAHS, VMRF-DU, received “Fit India Prabhat Pheri” Certification from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for organizing the event.
- Around 490 participants received their participation certificate from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The Program was initiated by Dr.B.Sendilkumar,Dean and Director-AHS,VMRF-DU and well organized by Dr. Dhanasekar, Ms.M.P.Varshini, NSS Co-Ordinators, SAHS.
