Cataract Awareness Month

Department of Optometry, School of Allied Health Sciences, Salem.As part of Cataract Awareness Month June 2025, the Department of Optometry, organized two inter-departmental Model and Poster competitions on the theme: "Know the Risks, Know the solution", The event was Inaugurated and key note address was delivered by Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean & Director of School of Allied Health Sciences, VMRF-DU Salem.Around 65 teams  from various departments participated, showcasing creative and informative posters and models on cataract awareness and awarded with prizes.


Upskilling Specialization Programme" titled "Radsynapse25: The Art of Magnet and Beam

The Department of Radiology and Imaging Technology, School of Allied Health Sciences, VIMS Campus, Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation - DU, Salem, successfully organized the "Upskilling Specialization Programme" titled "Radsynapse25: The Art of Magnet and Beam" (Advanced applications in MRI/CT equipment) on May 30, 2025, at the Dr. ASG Auditorium. Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Director, presided over the program and delivered the presidential address. Ms. Indhu, Senior Clinical Application Specialist, Fujiflim Healthcare India, served as a resource person. Upon completion, certificates were issued to all participants by Fujiflim.  On this special occasion, the magazine highlighting the yearly activities of Radiology and Imaging Technology was released by the Director of SAHS and the Resource Person.



Blood Donation Camp

VIMS School of Allied Health Sciences, Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation-DU, Salem Campus. The Red Ribbon Club & National Service Scheme organized a Blood Donation Camp today to commemorate the memorial day of our Respected Founder Chancellor, Dr. A. Shanmugasundaram. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean & Director - Allied Health Sciences & was honored by the presence of the esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Raveendran, MBBS, DCP, District Blood Transfusion Officer, Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College & Hospital, Salem. A total of 62 students, along with faculty members from SAHS, participated in the camp


World Wildlife Day 2025

In celebration of World Wildlife Day 2025, the Environmental Students Club organized a Donation Program to Enhance Visitor Amenities at Kurumbampatti Zoological Park.
The event was inaugurated by Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Honorable Director, with a felicitation for Dr.R.Selvakumar, Assistant Conservator of Forests & Assistant Director of the zoological park. As part of the initiative, they jointly launched a wall painting project within the zoological park.

National Youth Day

On the occasion of National Youth Day 2025, the SAHS Youth Club and National Service Scheme organized a Health Screening Camp and BLS Training Session for Ramakrishna Mutt students, staff, and their families, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Director - SAHS. At this event, valuable Basic Life Support (BLS) Training was provided by Mr. Jegan, Department of Accident and Emergency Care Technology, empowering participants with essential life-saving skills. 

The comprehensive health screening included:

 - Hypertension risk assessment

 - Obesity screening 

 - Comprehensive vision and eye health evaluation   

 - Dental health and oral health assessment.

 Approximately 100 students benefited from this event.


World AIDS Day

School of Allied Health Sciences at Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation – DU, VIMS Hospital campus, Salem, marked World AIDS Day 2024 with a series of impactful events. The Red Ribbon Club organized an AIDS Awareness Rally & Drama Show at Salem Junction & Uzhavar Sandhai to spread knowledge about HIV prevention & control. The rally was flagged off by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Abinaya, the Revenue Divisional Officer, Salem West, who emphasized the importance of awareness in combating the spread of AIDS. Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean & Director - AHS, delivered an insightful talk on HIV/AIDS prevention & control, educating the public on the significance of awareness. Mr. Nallathampi,District Supervisor, District AIDS Control & Prevention Unit, elaborated on the issue & led the gathering in a pledge to fight against AIDS. Mrs. Prema, Deputy Director of Agriculture (Agri Business), Marketing Committee Complex, Uthamasolapuram, also spoke about the significance of World AIDS Day. A group of 120 enthusiastic students participated in an awareness drama show at Uzhavar Sandhai, creatively highlighting the importance of HIV/AIDS awareness. The event successfully educated the public and rallied support for the cause.


World Kindness Day

School of Allied Health Sciences, VIMS Hospital Campus, Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation (Deemed to be University), Salem. On the occasion of World Kindness Day 2024, The Bhumi Club organized a successful Grocery Donation Drive. This program was aimed at contributing essential grocery items to the Bodhimaram Old Age Home, Kondappanaickenpatti, Salem. The initiative was a heartfelt effort by students, faculty & staff to make a positive impact on the lives of the elderly residents of the home. Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean & Director, School of Allied Health Sciences, formally handing over the grocery items to the management of the Bodhimaram Old Age Home. During his speech, he emphasized the significance of World Kindness Day, highlighting the importance of compassion, empathy & community service. He praised the active involvement of the students in the donation drive & stressed how such acts of kindness not only help those in need but also promote a culture of giving & mutual respect within society.The grocery items were graciously received by the management of Bodhimaram Old Age Home, including Dr. B. Ramesh Kumar, Founder, Mrs. R. Rajarajeshwari, Secretary, Mrs. J. Prema, Treasurer & Service volunteers. Mrs. Rajarajeshwari conveyed their heartfelt thanks, acknowledging the selfless efforts of the students & faculty in making the donation drive a success.


Menstrual Hygiene Awareness

School of Allied Health Sciences, VMRF-DU, Salem.We are pleased to share the success of the Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Lecture organized by the Gender Sensitisation Cell of SAHS on November 21, 2024. The event aimed to raise awareness, break taboos, and foster a more informed and inclusive dialogue on menstrual hygiene. Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean and Director, SAHS, delivered the presidential address. Prof. Tamilchudar.R,President of Gender sensitisation cell of SAHS highlighted the importance of menstrual hygiene and its effects on overall health. Our resource person Mrs. Saranya Gopinath, Managing Partner, GoGo Enterprises, shared her expertise on menstrual hygiene, debunking common myths and taboos surrounding menstruation. A demonstration of organic sanitary napkins was shown, highlighting their benefits and proper use.  Nearly 250 students benefited from the session, showing a significant increase in awareness and knowledge about menstrual hygiene.
