WORLD AIDS DAY

Red Ribbon Club, School of Allied Health Sciences, Vims Hospital Campus, Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation- DU Salem Participated ‘’ WORLD AIDS DAY 2024 -organized by the District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), Salem, on 2nd December 2024. The rally took place from Salem Collectorate to Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College & Hospital, Salem. It was inaugurated by Salem District Collector, Dr. Brinda Davi, in the presence of Deputy Director Dr. L. Arunachalam, District Programme Manager (DAPCU), and Prof. Dr. S. Gokulakannan, RRC Programme Officer of VMHMC&H. Totally 130 students participated in this significant awareness rally. Before the rally, the Collector led the AIDS Awareness Pledge, followed by students, faculty, and the public.
World Day for the Prevention of and Healing for Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Violence - 2024

School of Allied Health Sciences, VMRF-DU, Salem. We are pleased to share that Department of Public Health and Gender Sensitisation Cell organized awareness programme on World Day for the Prevention of and Healing for Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Violence - 2024 on November 25,2024. The event educated and raised awareness about safe & unsafe touch, and violence against women. Our dean and director Prof.Dr.B.Sendilkumar inaugurated the session and shared his knowledge with students. Chief guest Mr.Indrajith, Child Protection Officer, gave a talk regarding child protection and safety. A mime programme, and activities to join hands to promote awareness on child protection done by MPH students. A puppet video was circulated among the students. More than 500+ students actively participated and gained knowledge.
World Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

The Department of Respiratory Care Technology and Young Indians Club of the School of Allied Health Sciences organized a guest lecture on the occasion of World Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Day 2024. The event, held at the ASG Auditorium, SAHS, Salem, featured Dr. Ganesh Balan MBBS, DNB, IDCCM as the resource person. Prof. Dr. B.SendilKumar addressed the gathering and felicitated the resource person. The guest lecture on COPD benefited over 130 students. Additionally, a drawing and poster competition was conducted, and prizes were distributed. We extend our gratitude to everyone involved.
Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week

We are pleased to share that Department of Pharmacology organized Awareness Talk on the occasion of Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week - 2024 on November 22, 2024. The event aimed to educate and raise awareness about the wise use of Antibiotics. Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean and Director, SAHS, delivered the presidential address. Our resource person Dr S .Sangeetha Associate Professor Vinayaka Missions College of Pharmacy, VMRF-DU,Salem shared her knowledge related to Antibiotics Resistance. We conducted E-Poster Competition based on Antimicrobial Resistance. Students were awarded prizes for their creative and thought-provoking work. Nearly 200 students got benefited from this session.

We are pleased to report the successful organization of our awareness event commemorating *National Epilepsy Day*, held on 18th November 2024. The event featured a *Guest Lecture and Mime Performance* aimed at spreading awareness and educating participants about epilepsy.

The session began with an enlightening guest lecture by Dr.Pari Kodaiarasan who shared valuable insights on epilepsy and Mime Performance A thought-provoking mime performance by the students highlighted the challenges faced by individuals living with epilepsy and emphasized the importance of empathy, early intervention, and community support. The performance captivated the audience and effectively conveyed the key messages of awareness and inclusions.

School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS) , Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (DU), Salem, we are proud to announce the successful hosting of the Vigilance Awareness Week Rally, organized by the Department of Forensic Science Technology in collaboration with NSS & NCC - SAHS and the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Department, Salem.This significant event included an awareness rally and a street play aimed at promoting integrity and transparency within our community. The rally commenced at Five Roads, Salem, and concluded at Bharath Ratna Dr. M.G.R. Central Bus Stand. The event was inaugurated by our esteemed Director, Dr. B. Sendilkumar, alongside the Chief Guest, Mr. Murugan, Inspector of Police, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Wing, Salem. In attendance were key officials including Mrs. Nallammal, Inspector, Mr. Narendran, Inspector,Mr. Ravikumar, Inspector,Mr. Kesavan, Sub Inspector, Vigilance & Anti-Corruption. Over 100 students actively participated in the rally, showcasing their commitment to anti-corruption through a dynamic street play that emphasized the importance of integrity for the nation's prosperity. Additionally, a special dance performance was held at the Bharath Ratna Dr. M.G.R. Central Bus Stand, further engaging the public in this vital cause.

School of Allied Health Sciences, VMRF-DU.Dept of Optometry successfully completed the Human Chain formation by 750 students and faculty commemorating the World Sight Day 2024.Chief Guests Honourable Mrs.Saradha Devi,Deputy Mayor,Salem and Prof.Dr.B.Sendilkumar,Dean-SAHS,VMRF inaugurated the human chain and also launched a video that is focused to create awareness about Eye health among public.Students performed a mime that was well appreciated by the guests.
World Statistics Day

School of Allied Health Sciences, Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation (DU), Salem.On the occasion of World Statistics Day 2024, we organized a Faculty Development Programme titled Exploring Statistical Models Using Microsoft Excel on 23rd October 2024 at Dr. ASG Auditorium. The event commenced with a presidential address delivered by Prof. Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Director, School of Allied Health Sciences, VMRF-DU, Salem. The session was led by our resource person, Dr.M. Ramji, Statistician, Dept. of Community Medicine, Velammal Medical College Hospital & Research Institute, Madurai. He conducted an insightful and engaging session that encompassed: Fundamentals of Statistics, Data Cleaning Techniques, Data Merging and Splitting Methods, Descriptive Statistical Analysis, & Inferential Statistical Analysis using Microsoft Excel. An interactive online quiz based on the session. The program witnessed active participation from approximately 30 faculty members, all of whom were awarded certificates of participation. The session proved to be highly beneficial & well-received by the attendees.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The Department of Radiology and Imaging Technology, School of Allied Health Sciences, VMRF (DU) organized a 39 km Relay and Awareness Puppet Show to mark the 39th World Breast Cancer Awareness Month.The event was presided over by Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Director of SAHS, VMRF (DU). The relay was flagged off at the New Bus Stand by Mr. Nepolean, Inspector of Police, Pallapatti, Salem, and Mr. Venkatachalam, Inspector of Traffic, Salem. Students enthusiastically participated, starting from the New Bus Stand and concluding at the same location via Tharamangalam. Following the relay, a Puppet Show was inaugurated by the chief guest, Dr. Meera, Additional Directorate of Public Health, Tamil Nadu. The event was further graced by esteemed guests, including Mr. Balamurugan, Additional Deputy Superintendent of Police, Salem City, and Dr. Soundammal, District Health Officer, DDHS, Salem. Dr. Aswanth Vetrivel, District Tobacco Consultant, and Dr. Hari from NCD, DDHS, also joined in celebrating this significant occasion.The puppet show effectively raised awareness about breast cancer symptoms, prevention methods,treatments and the importance of early detection among the public.As a highlight of the program, the Olympic torch from the relay was handed over to the chief guest Dr. Meera, Additional Directorate of Public Health, Tamil Nadu. All participants of the relay were recognized and appreciated with medals and certificates, celebrating their commitment to spreading awareness.

We are announce the success of our awareness outreach program celebrating Women’s Equality Day 2024, titled: Empowering Change: The Journey towards Achieving Gender Equality. Held on 29th August 2024, this event featured a keynote address by Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean & Director - AHS, VMRF-DU, Salem who spoke on gender equality & Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Achieve gender equality & empower all women & girls). The event was honored by the presence of chief guests, including Mr. P. Prasanth M.S.W., District Mission Coordinator; Mrs. S. Renuka, M.A., M.Ed., Tamil Pandit, Mrs. Vijaya Shanthi, Multi-Tasking Staff from the District Social Welfare Department, District Collector’s Office, Salem & Mrs. Amudha, Headmistress of Govt. Higher Secondary School, Vembadithalam. Organized by the SAHS - Gender Sensitization Cell, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan 2.0, National Service Scheme, SAHS Youth Club & Bhumi Club, this initiative highlighted our dedication to Sustainable Development Goal 5. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated & contributed to the event's impact & inspiration. A total of 300 students, along with 20 teaching & non-teaching faculty members, joined us in this important endeavor, reinforcing our commitment to a more equitable future.
First National Space Day 2024

On the occasion of the First National Space Day 2024, The National Service Scheme, SAHS Youth Club & Bhumi Club organized a Mobile Planetarium event, complemented by the distribution of brochures, photo & video exhibition. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean & Director - AHS, who presented insights into ISRO's achievements & their contributions to national development to the students of Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Vembadithalam, Veerapandi Block, Salem District. The students actively participated & enriched their knowledge about space. Dr. S. Gokulakannan, NSS Programme Coordinator of VMRF-DU, also attended the event. A total of 500 students & faculty members had the opportunity to explore the Mobile Planetarium, engaging with a detailed exhibition that showcased India's significant milestones & advancements in space exploration.

School of Allied Health Sciences, Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation (DU) organized a Graduation Ceremony on 27.7.2024 at Annapoorna auditorium. The ceremony started with the academic procession by dignitaries. They were ushered to the accompaniment of the college band into the venue of the function. The dignitaries adorned the dais and the prayer song was played. Prof Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Director, SAHS, VMRF(DU) welcomed all the dignitaries, invitees, parents, faculty and graduands and also delivered an annual report, achievements, awards & recognition of SAHS . Dr.Santharaman Kalyanaraman, Additional Director of Medical Education & Research, Govt of Tamilnadu, Chennai invited as chief guest of the programme. He delivered the presidential address & insisted about the “Importance of developing the additional skill for good profession”. Dr.K.Manivannan, CoE, Prof.Dr.B.Jaykar, Clinical Trials, Prof.Dr.R.S.Shanmugasundaram, Director, SW & Dr.Sridhar Reddy, Director, Ranking & Accreditation, VMRF(DU) were also felicitated the occasion. On this continuation, the SAHS magazine was released by Chief guests & special guests. In this ceremony, 346 students from various branches received their degrees and also 23 gold medals, 20 silver medals & 17 bronze medals were received by SAHS students. At the end of the programme the grandaunts took a pledge. The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof.V.Kalaivani,Academic Coordinator,SAHS,VMRF(DU). The whole programme was well organized by Teaching & Non Teaching faculties of SAHS. The graduation ceremony was a memorable event for the students, parents, and faculty members, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of the students. The event was a testament to the institution's commitment to providing quality education and fostering a spirit of excellence among its students.

SAHS Library & National Digital Library of India (NDLI) Club organizing Digital Literacy Awareness Lecture & Best Library Users Award Distribution programme on the occasion of National Librarians Day 2024. The programme aimed to Promote Digital Literacy, Celebrate Library Users, raise Awareness & Professional Development for Librarians. We were privileged to have Dr. C. Murugan, Professor and Head, Department of Library & Information Science, Periyar University, Salem as our Chief Guest. Dr. C. Murugan insightful lecture highlighted the essential role of digital literacy in our rapidly evolving world and celebrated the outstanding contributions of our best library users. We are pleased to announce that a total of 250 students attended today’s program, marking it as a great success. The active participation and enthusiasm of the students greatly contributed to the event's vibrant atmosphere and meaningful discussions.

Dr.K.Meenakshi sundaram,Medical director,VIMS Hospital and Dr.R.Ashok, Deputy Medical Director,VIMS Hospital,Salem invited as chief guest and felicitated the occasion. Mr.Saravanan,Advanced Paramedic and Mrs.Lakshmi,Senior Nurse,Dubai,UAE invited as special guest. Theme :- Honouring Our Past & Forging Our Future. 6 Students have been awarded as Best Performance of the year 2024 & 30 members as Star Performer in Pre Hospital Care along with cultural events. “SAHS Name board” at the entrance point presented by Accident & Emergency Department was inaugurated by Director SAHS and the chief guests.

BRAIN RUN 6Km Marathon was successfully organized by the Dept of Neuroscience Technology,SAHS, VMRF-DU.The marathon was flagged off by Chief Guest Ms.Lakshmipriya,ACP,Hasthampatti Range,Salem and Prof.Dr.B.Sendilkumar,Dean-AHS, VMRF-DU.Around 272 participants enthusiastically ran and completed the marathon. Mrs.Saradhadevi,Deputy Mayor,Salem Corporation awarded the first three winners with cash prize of upto 15000 and all the participants received Certificates and medals.Awareness on brain health and physical health was emphasized through the mime done by our students and the objective of the Marathon was met.
National Statistics Day

On the occasion of National Statistics Day 2024, we organized a workshop and hands-on training on "Statistical Data Analysis using R". Nearly 100 students benefited from this informative session. Our resource person, Dr. A. Sheik Abdullah, Assistant Professor, PG & Research Department of Statistics, Salem Sowdeswari College, Salem, shared his expertise with us. The session aimed to equip our students with the essential skills required to analyze and interpret statistical data, thereby enhancing their research capabilities. The workshop covered various topics, including data visualization, hypothesis testing, and regression analysis, using the R programming language. The hands-on training session allowed students to practice and apply their knowledge, under the guidance of Dr. Abdullah. The feedback from the students was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their appreciation for the opportunity to learn from an experienced statistician.
International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

We are pleased to report that the Department of Forensic Science Technology, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme, Bhumi Club SAHS, and in association with the Salem City Police, Director of Health Services, Salem City Municipal Corporation, District Food Safety Department, and District Excise Department, Salem, successfully organized the "No Drug Gala 2024" awareness walkathon on 26/06/2024 - 9:00am.This event was held in observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, under the theme: "The evidence is clear: invest in Prevention."The program commenced at 9:00 AM at the Salem Corporation Outdoor Park, near Pallapatti Police Station, New Bus Stand. The walkathon was flagged off by the esteemed chief guest, Honourable Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean - AHS, along with Mrs. Brindha IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Salem North District, Dr. S. Soundammal, District Health Officer, Salem, Dr. Radhika, Joint Director - Health Services, Dr. Kathiravan, Designated Officer - Food Safety, Salem, and Mr. C. Maaran, Assistant Commissioner - Excise Department. Following the inauguration, students proceeded with the No Drug Gala walkathon, featuring various dance, drama, and mime performances designed to attract and educate the public about the effects of drug consumption and the importance of drug addiction prevention. Over 250 students participated in the program, walking approximately 6 kilometers to Salem Railway Junction. The social impact of this program was significant. The performances and the walkathon raised awareness among the public about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of preventive measures. The event successfully engaged the community, fostering a sense of responsibility and collective effort towards combating drug addiction. Many participants and onlookers expressed their appreciation for the initiative, indicating a heightened awareness and commitment to preventing drug abuse in the world.

Prof.Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Director, SAHS,VMRF(DU) delivered the welcome address. Dr.Sobana.M Assistant Professor, Department of Anatomy,KMCH, Coimbatore invited as a Chief guest of the programme. She delivered the session on “ Importance of Anatomy For Allied Health Students”. Various cultural events & competitions like Body painting, model making, quiz competitions was conducted .Most of the students were actively participated. All the deserved participants were appreciated with certificates , memento & cash prizes.

Totally 400students were participated in that event.
World Menstruation Hygiene Day

School of Allied Health Sciences, VMRF-DU, Salem. On the Account of "World Menstruation Hygiene Day", faculties and students from the Department of Public Health, NSS & Young Indians organized an Awareness Campaign at the Attayampatti bus stand to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene among the general population. Mr. Vijaya Kumar, Sub-inspector of police, Attayampatti, Salem, and Mr. Gunalan, Executive Officer, Town Panchayat, Attayampatti, were the chief guests. Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean & Director, felicitated the guests and addressed the gathering. The event encompassed a Flashmob, talks related to the general and research aspects of menstrual hygiene, and providing pamphlets to the general public. The event went well with community involvement, and the public benefited through this event. We are proud to report that the campaign successfully reached over 500 people, including locals, commuters, and shopkeepers, who were educated on the importance of menstrual hygiene and its impact on women's health.
Perfusionist: Connected to Life

School of Allied Health Sciences,The Department of Perfusion Technology Organised a Workshop on the theme of "Perfusionist: Connected to Life" at Skill Lab, First Floor, and SAHS Auditorium. Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean and Director-AHS, presided over the program and delivered a keynote address. Mr. Karthi Murugan, Senior Perfusionist and Lecturer from CMC, Vellore, was the chief guest and delivered a session and conducted a workshop. The event aimed to educate and update the participants on the latest advancements in perfusion technology and its significance in saving lives.The workshop witnessed an engaging session, where Mr. Murugan shared his expertise and experiences in the field of perfusion technology. The participants actively participated in the session, and their queries were addressed by the chief guest. At the end of the event, a quiz program was conducted, and cash prizes were given to the winners. We congratulate Mr. Raghul, Ms. Ayesha, and Ms. Atchaya for organizing a wonderful event that received an overwhelming response from the participants.

NSS and Young Indians of School of Allied Health Sciences, VMRF-DU. We are thrilled to celebrate World Hemophilia Day under the theme "Equitable access for all: recognizing all bleeding disorders". The event kicked off with the ceremonial Lamp lighting by Chief Guest Dr. Hariprasad, Dist. Program Officer, Non-Communicable Diseases, Salem, accompanied by Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean-AHS, esteemed faculty, and our enthusiastic students. The Dean extended a warm welcome to all attendees and the informative session on the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of Hemophilia by Chief Guest Dr. Hariprasad was met with great interest and engagement from the students. To further spread awareness, an online quiz was organized, aiming to educate the public about this condition.

World Optometry Day

Department of Optometry,SAHS, VMRF-DU.The students and Faculty of Optometry celebrated World Optometry Day by creating an EYE PARK at SAHS,Salem Campus.It consisted of various Vision Therapy instruments that were designed and created by Optometry students.This Eye Park is made with a motive of improvising the Eye Health of students in today's digitalized world. The students also contributed a Water Fountain built by themselves very beautifully with eye symbol.

Dept.of Optometry, School of Allied Health Sciences,VMRF-DU created awareness about the silent thief of sight"Glaucoma" at Fairlands signal and Hasthampatti signal.Mr.Ravichandran,ADCP,Salem and Prof.Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Dean-AHS Inaugurated the event by letting off Balloons and they distributed Pamphlets that enlisted the Causes and Prevention of Glaucoma to the public. Department of Renal Dialysis Technology at the School of Allied Health Sciences, VinayakaMissions Research Foundation-DU organized a Relay, Expo, & Mime related to kidney health at Salem New Bus Stand to celebrate the World Kidney Day. In view of 18th Kidney day,18 students participated in the Relay from Salem Ulavar Santhai,Junction to New Bus stand which was flagged off by Chief Guest Mr.Thennarasu,ACP,Traffic ,Salem and Prof.Dr.B.Sendilkumar,Dean-AHS. At New bus stand,students created awareness through a Drama on Kidney Health and arranged an Expo that elaborated on the Causes,Prevention and Treatment options.Dr.Jones Ronald,Senior Nephrologist and Mr Ravichandran,ADCP,Salem inaugurated the Expo and gave a speech to the public.Public were made to spray paint on a board that read Empower Kidneys,Empower Yourself that had a huge impact in creating awareness .

Indirani, Inspector of police, Attayampatti,salem,Mr. Kamaraj, Sub inspector,Attayampatti,Salem and Mr.Murugaprakash Chairman ,Attayampatti Panchayat,Salem. Students performed an awareness skit and Dance on Risk of cardiovascular disease and it's impacts at Attayampatti Bus stand. Students explained about the Risk and lifestyle habits that increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and how to overcome it to the public.Around 60 people got benefited through this camp.

Honourable Deputy Mayor Mrs.Saradha Devi and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr.Ravichandran graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Inaugurated the event along with Dean of AHS Prof.Dr.B.Sendilkumar.The guests and public were made to Experience the Life of Low vision through stimulated spectacles and students gave awareness through an expo and talks about the causes and the solutions available to it. Dance, a Short film, and a Video of low vision patients were also done by students. The event was well appreciated by the guests.

Mr.Jaganathan, Sub collector, Salem Collectorate graces the event as chief and inaugurated the events. Mr.Maran, Assistant Commissioner and Mr.Ramesh, Tahsildar, Salem, Collectorate were also felicitated on this occasion. On the occasion of National Recycling Day and World Pollution Control Day 2023, the Environmental Students Club organized a Recycling Drive near Aatayampatti police station on November 30, 2023. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, our esteemed Dean and Director, inaugurated the drive with Mr. Bala Murugan, SSI of Aatayampatti police station. Around 80 students actively campaigned door-to-door, emphasizing recycling and proper waste disposal. World Breast cancer awareness month is observed every year in the month of October to educate people about breast cancer.On account of this & also in order to insist on fitness, NSS unit, SAHS Youth club, Department of Radiotherapy & Nuclear Medicine Technology, School of Allied Health Sciences,Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (DU) organized a “Fit India Freedom Run 3.0 - Pink Run - Mini marathon” event on 8.10.2022.
Mr.M.Madasamy,Deputy Commissioner of Police,Salem North,Salem City & Mrs.S.P.Lavanya, Deputy Commissioner of Police,Salem South,Salem Citywas invited as Chief guests for the event and flagged off the marathon.
The marathon was started nearby Ulavar Sandhai,Suramangalam and ended at Salem Railway junction via AVR circle, Sago serve circle & Reddipatti(5Km). The students of SAHS were actively participated in this event. The deserved students were appreciated with medals & certificates.
In continuation,the photo signature campaign was conducted at suramangalam, Salem with the aim of increasing more awareness on breast cancer to public.The campaign was inaugurated by chief guests.The Student volunteers emphasized & created awareness on breast cancer to the public, especially the women, through this program. They also distributed pamphlets with elaborate information on breast cancer to public and also collected signature from public on their photo.Nearly 150 women were signed in this event.

Prof Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Director, SAHS, VMRF(DU) welcomed all the dignitaries, invitees, parents, faculty and graduands and also delivered an annual report of SAHS. Dr.Asha Frederick, State TB officer & Additional Director of Medical & Rural Health Services, Govt of Tamilnadu, the chief guest of the programme delivered the special address to students. Dr.B.Jaykar, Registrar, VMRF (DU) ,the special guest of the programme delivered the keynote address. Dr.Gnanasekar, Director, IQAC, VMRF(DU) & Dr.R.Shanmugasundaram, Director, Student Welfare, VMRF(DU) also felicitated the occasion & delivered the felicitation address. In this ceremony, 592 students from various branches received their degrees and also 17gold medals, 11 silver medals & 8 bronze medals were received by SAHS students. The programme was well organized by Teaching & Non Teaching faculties of SAHS.

WORLD HEALTH DAY CELEBRATION-MEDICAL CAMP BY SCHOOL OF ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES, VMRF -DU, Salem in Collaboration with VIMS Hospital, Salem.
Department of Public Health, NSS and Youth Club members of School of Allied Health Sciences and VIMS Hospital and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Salem, jointly organized a Medical CAMP to commemorate the WORLD HEALTH DAY 2022 on April 7th at District High Court .
Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean & Director - AHS, VMRF-DU, Salem, Dr. K Meenakshi Sundaram, Medical Director, VIMS Hospital, Salem and other dignitaries inaugurated the camp by lighting the lamp and presided over the medical camp. Chairman of the Principal District Judge and Salem District Legal Services Authority Special Guest Honourable Mr.S. Kumaraguru, B.L.,delivered the Keynote Address. President of the Salem Bar Association, Shri. Muthusamy, Secretary Mr. Muthamil Selvan and other officials were also present on the occasion.
More than 220 people, including Lawyers, Court Staff and Members of the public, attended the medical camp, which was held at the District Legal Services Authority. Free Blood Tests, Haemoglobin, Blood Pressure, ECG, and ECHO tests were performed on all camp participants. Obesity and height (BODY MASS INDEX) tests were performed.
Medical advice was given by Consultants of VIMS Hospital.
The event was very well organized and executed by Faculty of School of Allied Health Sciences and Managers of VIMS Hospital.

Inaugurated the Radiotherapy & Nuclear Medicine Technology Simulation Laboratory

School of Allied Health Sciences, VIMS Hospital Campus, Vinayaka mission's Research Foundation (DU) established and ingurated the Radiotherapy & Nuclear Medicine Technology simulation Laboratory with the aim to give hands on pretty clinical training to its students. Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine students will be able to better understand the concepts and apply it during their clinical practice because of exposure in the well-equipped lab.
The lab was initiated and ingurated by Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar Dean-AHS Mrs. V. Jamaican, Incharge-Radiotherapy & Nuclear Medicine, MS. B. Nikita, Asst. Professor, MS. Sherin Percy, Asst. Founder’s Memorial Day was observed by School of Allied Health Sciences, VMRF (DU), Salem on 25.03.2021.On account of this day, NSS Unit, School of Allied Health Sciences, distributed the tree saplings at Founder’s Temple, University Campus, VMRF (DU). Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Director/SAHS presided over the event. This event was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chancellor Dr.A.S.Ganesan & Director Dr.Anuradha Ganesan, VMRF (DU) Salem.
And also SAHS organized a blood donation camp at College campus. Dr.M.Raveendran , Blood Bank Medical Officer, Govt.Mohan Kumaramangalam College & Hospital, Salem & Dr.Sarankumar, Medical Officer- Govt.Hospital, Omalur were invited as a chief guest of the programme. Totally 52 members of students & faculties were donated blood to District blood Bank office, Govt. Mohan Kumaramangalam College & Hospital, Salem.
Finally, the Director, Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Faculties & students of SAHS paid a floral tribute to Hon’ble Founder Chancellor, Dr.A.S.Shanmugasundaram,VMRF (DU) at college campus.

World Tuberculosis (TB) Day 2021

World Tuberculosis (TB) Day on March 24 is observed to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of TB, and to step up efforts to end the global TB epidemic. The date marks the day in 1882 when Dr Robert Koch announced that he had discovered the bacterium that causes TB, which opened the way towards diagnosing and curing this disease.
On account of this, NSS Unit, School of Allied Health Sciences, Salem,VMRF (DU) observed a“World Tuberculosis Day” and organized a awareness programme on 24.3.2021 at PIDC Auditorium.
Director Dr.B.Sendilkumar delivered the welcome address and gave a special talk about the history & significance of the day. Dr. V. Gokula Krishnan, Deputy Director Medical & Rural Health Services – District TB Centre, Salem invited as a Chief Guest of this programme. He delivered a speech about “Prevention & Treatment method of TB” to students. Dr. Ashok Kumar, Vinayaka Mission’s Kirupanandha Variyar Medical College & Hospital - Deputation, District TB Centre, Salem, Mr. E. Thanga Raju, Health Adjudicator, District TB Centre, Salem, Mr. R. Pandiya Rajan, District Programme Coordinator, District TB Centre, Salem, Mr. Senthil Kumar, Senior Treatment Supervisor, Nainampatti Division, District TB Centre, Salem, Mr. Andrew Santhosh Kumar, Health Visitor Nainampatti Division, District TB Centre, Salem were felicitated the programme.

World Optometry Day 2021

Every year the world optometry day is celebrated on the 23rd March as a symbol of celebrating optometry as a profession and to spread awareness about vision to publics. On account of this day, Past one month, Department of AHS/Optometry, School of Allied Health Sciences, Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (DU), Salem conducted various activities like Low vision awareness walkathon, Human chain event on Glaucoma awareness at Fairlands, eye screening programmes in Child orphanage & old age home at various places in Salem. Nearly 5000 peoples were screened in this eye screening programme and the spectacles were freely distributed to 320 needy peoples.
And also, Department of Optometry organized a mass event of vision screening with maximum number (113) of optometry students in a day on 19th March 2021 at college campus. This event was recognized by World book of Records London and registered as a World Record Event in this book. The World Record certificate was also issued by WBR, London.
World Optometry Day celebration was organized at Skill lab Auditorium on 23.3.2021. The day was started with lighting of lamp and followed by prayer song. The optometry student delivered the welcome address. Director, Dr.B.Sendilkumar delivered a special speech on “importance of optometrist in healthcare profession”. Mrs.R.Tamilchudar, In-charge , Department of AHS/Optometry, SAHS delivered a special address on “History & Significance of the day celebration”. The other optometry faculties Ms.Gayathri, Ms.Priyadharshini, Ms.Nivedhitha, & Ms.Valarmathi were delivered a speech on role & responsibilities of the Optometrist in healthcare profession. On this occasion the World Record Certificate was handed over to Director Dr.B.Sendilkumar by R.Tamilchudar & other faculties of optometry. On account of this celebration various events like short film presentation, speech, etc were conducted by students.
At the end of the session the participants were appreciated with certificates by Director Dr.B. Sendilkumar .

NATIONAL ROAD SAFETY MONTH - STRESS MANAGEMENT

"Road Safety Week" is observed throughout the country every year in order to highlight and emphasize the need for safe roads. This year instead of "Road, Safety Week", a month-long campaign "National Road Safety Month" will be observed from 18th January 2021 to 17th February 2021.This campaign initiated by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. The main aim of the observance is to create awareness of road safety to public and keeping in mind the increasing prevalence of deaths owing to road accidents.
On account of this, NSS Unit, School of Allied Health Sciences, Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (DU) jointly with Salem South Regional Transport Office organized a stress management training programme for drivers on 9th Feb 2021 at RTO Office, Salem South. Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Director, SAHS & Mr.Saravanabhavan, RTO, inaugurated the session. Dr.J.Jamuna, Psychologist, SAHS gave a training on “How to overcome the stress to drivers”.
Around 120 drivers were participated in this programme. The program was well organized by Dr.R.Dhanasekar & V.Sathishkumar, faculties of SAHS.

Safer Internet Day is celebrated globally in February each year to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people and inspire a national conversation.
On account of this, School of Allied Health Sciences, Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (DU) organized a Guest Lecture programme on “Are you Safe in Online” at PIDC Auditorium. Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Director, SAHS delivered a Welcome Address . Mr.Ragavendran Nagarajan, Official Cyber security Consultant , Salem City Police & Corporate Trainer was invited as a chief guest of this program. He delivered a special talk about “Safety measures in Internet usage, Types of Cyber crime attack & methods of prevention”.

They are delivered a special talk on “Importance of wearing helmet and seat belt, importance to follow the traffic rules and procedure to take vehicle license ,etc”.
Nearly 100 students, faculties, drivers were participated in this programme. At the end of the programme road safety pamphlets are issued to all the participants. The program was well organized by Dr.R.Dhanasekar & Ms.M.P.Varshini, NSS Coordinators, SAHS and Dr.Senthilnathan, Admin Manager, SAHS .
KALAM WORLD RECORD - 2021

Kalam World Record Foundation is a private organization. The main aim of the foundation is to motivate and help the achievers and also showcase the achievement of a person or team. It creates record breaking campaigns to engage audience with unforgettable moments of absolute happiness and amazement that delivering the core result.
School of Allied Health Sciences, Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (DU) has been honored by kalam world Record foundation for creating a cancer awareness rally by 100 youngsters.
Regarding this Honour, Prof.Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Dean & Director – AHS said that SAHS conducted a Awareness rally to create awareness of cancer to public on World Cancer Day. In this event 100 students were participated in cancer awareness rally , 100 students performed logo formation of cancer & 100 students insisted the public to join hands to support cancer patients through their hand prints and signature. All these activities were conducted in a single day infront of Kalam World Record Team.
For this achievement, the honorary function was arranged in SAHS Auditorium. Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Dean & Director, AHS inaugurated the function and delivered the welcome address. Dr.Kumaravel, Founder & Chairman, Kalam World Record Foundation delivered a speech on “What is the reason for Giving this Award & Certificate to SAHS”. Dr.Harish, Adjudicator, Kalam World Record Foundation delivered a felicitation address.
At the end of the event Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Dean& Director, AHS honoured with medal by Kalam World record Foundation for organizing the event successfully and greatfully
World Cancer Day

On the Account of World Cancer Day- Feb 4, 2021, School of Allied Health Sciences Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation conducted a National Seminar on “Novel Cancer Therapy Technology and Biological Effects” followed by an Awareness Rally.
In the National Seminar the Welcome address was given by Dr.B.Sendilkumar,Director, SAHS,VMRF(DU). Followed by that a homage for two minutes and a Tribute video was played to Padma Vibhusan Dr.V.Shanta for her dedication and service towards the Cancer Community at The Cancer Institute, Adyar Chennai. The seminar session included talk by Mr A.Selvakumar Chief Radiotherapy Technologist & President of Indian Society of Radiolographers & Technologists(ISRT), Indra Prasatha Apollo Hospital New Delhi, Dr.B.Grace Mercy Priscilla Assistant Professor, Department of Radiation Oncology, Madras Medical College, Chennai and Dr. Aruna Rajendran, Assistant Professor, Department of Pediatric Hematology, Institute of Child Health, Egmore, Chennai.
The seminar was attended by more than 700 participants from various institutions across the country.
Followed by the National seminar, National Service Scheme Unit, School of Allied Health Sciences, Salem, Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (DU) conducted an Awareness rally on “Causes and Prevention of Cancer” .
Dr.P.S.Manoharan, Pro Vice Chancellor VMRF-DU & Mr.Sivaranjan District Sports and Youth Welfare Officer were invited as the Chief Guest. Dr.K.Meenakshi Sundaram, Medical Director, VIMS, was invited as a Guest of Honor .
Dr.B.Sendilkumar Dean and Director, AHS-VMRF Presided over the Awareness programme .The rally was Flagged off by Chief guests & Special guest of the programme. Around 100 Allied Health Sciences students, teaching faculties & Non-Teaching faculties participated in this rally from Salem collector office and closed at the Mahatma Gandhi Stadium.
Placards with slogans was carried , Slogans recitation on Causes & Prevention of Cancer and also distribution pamphlets with elaborate information for the public to create awareness were done by the students.
At the end of the programme , the students performed logo formation of cancer and they insisted the public to join hands to support cancer patients, through their hand prints and signature.
The entire programme was well organized with proper safety protocols by the NSS Coordinators, Faculties and Non-Teaching Faculties of SAHS.
REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION - 2021

School of Allied Health Sciences, Salem VMRF (DU) celebrated 72nd Republic day on 26.1.2021 at college campus. The ceremony took place in the presence of Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Director, faculties, supporting staffs and students of SAHS.
The ceremony commenced with 11th (Tamilnadu) Signal Company (Battalion) National Cadet Corps Parade and unfurling of the National Flag by Dr.B.Sendilkumar . The honor of NCC parade was accepted by Director, SAHS and he delivered the speech about “The importance of the Constitution and its unique features such as Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic and Republic enshrined in the preamble of the constitution”.
On account of this celebration various cultural events like singing, dance, & speech, were conducted. The faculties, non-teaching staff & students saluted the National Flag and took pledge to uphold the honour and integrity, diversity and uniqueness of India.
At the end of the programme, SAHS students formed an India map as a part of 72nd Republic Day Celebration.
The celebrations were well organized by NSS CoordinatorsDr.R.Dhanasekar, Ms.M.P.Varshini, and Lecturers Ms.M.Saranyaa & Ms.M.Priyadharshini.
PARAKRAM DIWAS 2020-2021

In order to honor and remember Netaji's indomitable spirit and selfless service to the nation, the Government of India has decided to celebrate his birthday on January 23 every year as 'Parakram Diwas' to inspire people of the country, especially the youth, to act with fortitude in the face of adversity as Netaji did, and to infuse in them a spirit of patriotic fervour.
On account of this, as per guidelines of UGC, NSS Unit, School of Allied Health Sciences, Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (DU) organized a webinar on “Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose – The Nation Builder”.
Director Dr.B.Sendilkumar delivered the welcome address. Mr.Prem Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of History, Periyar University, Salem invited as a Chief Guest of this programme. He delivered a speech about “Life History of Netaji & Significance of the Day” to students.
Around 300 participants were participated in this programme. At the end of the programme the participants were appreciated with e-certificates.

NATIONAL YOUTH DAY

National Youth Day has been celebrated annually on 12th January. The day marks the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The day is observed every year to honour the ideals and thoughts of Swami Vivekananda, who had been extremely vocal about the importance of youth in the process of nation-building. It is to honour his contributions to the country that the government of India, in 1984, declared his birthday as National Youth Day. One of the main objectives of National Youth Day is to promote rational thinking among the youth, who are the future of the country.
As per recommendation of UGC, NSS Unit, School of Allied Health Sciences, Salem, VMRF celebrated a National Youth Day and organized a webinar on “Youth Empowerment”.
Prof.Dr.B.Sendilkumar Dean and Director of SAHS,delivered the welcome address and gave a short note on “History & Significance of the Day”. Dr. Ponraj Vellaichamy, Advisor to Former President Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, Former Scientist -G, Ministry of Defense, Bangalore invited as a Chief Guest of this programme. He delivered a speech about “Importance of youth contribution in Nation building and he motivated the students to follow the path of Swami Vivekananda by quoting several instances from his life”.
Around 300 participants had participated in this programme. At the end of the programme the participants were appreciated with e-certificates.

- Organized a Fit India Prabhat Pheri from 1st December 2020 to 6th December, 2020.
- NSS Volunteers and SAHS Youth Club members actively participated and uploaded the photo undertaken by them.
- Nearly 490 students uploaded their activity undertaken by them.
- On completion of the event SAHS, VMRF-DU, received “Fit India Prabhat Pheri” Certification from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for organizing the event.
- Around 490 participants received their participation certificate from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
