World Hemophilia Day

NSS and Young Indians of School of Allied Health Sciences, VMRF-DU. We are thrilled to celebrate World Hemophilia Day under the theme "Equitable access for all: recognizing all bleeding disorders". The event kicked off with the ceremonial Lamp lighting by Chief Guest Dr. Hariprasad, Dist. Program Officer, Non-Communicable Diseases, Salem, accompanied by Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean-AHS, esteemed faculty, and our enthusiastic students. The Dean extended a warm welcome to all attendees and the informative session on the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of Hemophilia by Chief Guest Dr. Hariprasad was met with great interest and engagement from the students. To further spread awareness, an online quiz was organized, aiming to educate the public about this condition.

World Optometry Day

Department of Optometry,SAHS, VMRF-DU.The students and Faculty of Optometry celebrated World Optometry Day by creating an EYE PARK at SAHS,Salem Campus.It consisted of various Vision Therapy instruments that were designed and created by Optometry students.This Eye Park is made with a motive of improvising the Eye Health of students in today's digitalized world. The students also contributed a Water Fountain built by themselves very beautifully with eye symbol.

Dept.of Optometry, School of Allied Health Sciences,VMRF-DU created awareness about the silent thief of sight"Glaucoma" at Fairlands signal and Hasthampatti signal.Mr.Ravichandran,ADCP,Salem and Prof.Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Dean-AHS Inaugurated the event by letting off Balloons and they distributed Pamphlets that enlisted the Causes and Prevention of Glaucoma to the public. Students of Optometry actively participated in distribution of pamphlets and explaining the condition.

Department of Renal Dialysis Technology at the School of Allied Health Sciences, VinayakaMissions Research Foundation-DU organized a Relay, Expo,  & Mime related to kidney health at Salem New Bus Stand to celebrate the World Kidney Day. In view of 18th Kidney day,18 students participated in the Relay from Salem Ulavar Santhai,Junction to New Bus stand which was flagged off by Chief Guest Mr.Thennarasu,ACP,Traffic ,Salem and Prof.Dr.B.Sendilkumar,Dean-AHS. At New bus stand,students created awareness through a Drama on Kidney Health and arranged an Expo that elaborated on the Causes,Prevention and Treatment options.Dr.Jones Ronald,Senior Nephrologist and Mr Ravichandran,ADCP,Salem inaugurated the Expo and gave a speech to the public.Public were made to spray paint on a board that read Empower Kidneys,Empower Yourself that had a huge impact in creating awareness .

On the Occasion of Cardiac Technologist Day February 14,2024,Department of Cardiac technology  Organized An Exclusive Cardiac health Screening Camp including ECG.Prof. Dr. B Sendilkumar,Dean, SAHS ,Salem felicitated the chief guestsMrs. Anandhi ACP, Salem range,Mrs . Indirani, Inspector of police, Attayampatti,salem,Mr. Kamaraj, Sub inspector,Attayampatti,Salem and Mr.Murugaprakash Chairman ,Attayampatti Panchayat,Salem. Students performed an awareness skit and Dance on Risk of cardiovascular disease and it's impacts at Attayampatti Bus stand. Students explained about the Risk and lifestyle habits that increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and how to overcome it to the public.Around 60 people got benefited through this camp.

Department of Optometry, School of Allied Health Sciences, VMRF-DU.On the occasion of Low Vision Awareness Month, We screening a movie about stimulated Low vision. Honourable Deputy Mayor Mrs.Saradha Devi and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr.Ravichandran graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Inaugurated the event along with Dean of AHS Prof.Dr.B.Sendilkumar.The guests and public were made to Experience the Life of Low vision through stimulated spectacles and students gave awareness through an expo and talks about the causes and the solutions available to it. Dance, a Short film, and a Video of low vision patients were also done by students. The event was well appreciated by the guests.

World Cancer Day

School of Allied Health Sciences Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation Salem. On the occasion of World Cancer Day, the departments of RIT, RT, and NMT, organized an Awareness Programme, Mobile Photo Exhibition, Signature Campaign, and Street Play on 6.2.2024 at Salem collectorate and New bus stand. Mr.Jaganathan, Sub collector, Salem Collectorate graces the event as chief and inaugurated the events. Mr.Maran, Assistant Commissioner and Mr.Ramesh, Tahsildar, Salem, Collectorate were also felicitated on this occasion. The students of RIT, RT & NMT were actively involved in these events and created awareness of various types of cancer among the public. 

National Girl Child Day

The Gender Sensitisation Cell had organized the National Girl Child Day and International Education Day at Annapoorna Auditorium.Chief Guest Dr.Kanimozhi NVN Somu,MP,Rajya sabha,Guest of honour,Prof.Dr.P.K.Sudhir,VC, VMRF-DU and Prof.Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Dean-AHS were welcomed with the traditional dance and drums.Guests were honoured by Prof.Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Dean-AHS and he also delivered a special address highlighting the activities of Gender Sensitisation Cell of SAHS.Guests addressed the gathering with inspiring speech on the importance of Education and need for Empowerment of Girls.Annapoorani Endowment award was given to deserving students of SAHS.The event was well organized by Gender Sensitisation Cell President Prof.Tamilchudar.R,Vice President Mr.Ajithkumar and Lecturer Ms.Sivaranjani and Student members.

National Recycling Day and World Pollution Control Day 2023

On the occasion of National Recycling Day and World Pollution Control Day 2023, the Environmental Students Club organized a Recycling Drive near Aatayampatti police station on November 30, 2023. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, our esteemed Dean and Director, inaugurated the drive with Mr. Bala Murugan, SSI of Aatayampatti police station. Around 80 students actively campaigned door-to-door, emphasizing recycling and proper waste disposal. They collected trash from local shops and residences, significantly contributing to the success of this environmental initiative. Thanks and regards from EVS Club - SAHS, Salem.

Dr.Gomathi Priyadharshini, Professor, Department of Anatomy,Vivekanandha Dental College of Women, Tiruchengode invited as a Chief guest of the programme. She delivered the session on “ Role of Anatomy in Allied Health Professions”. Various cultural events & competitions like face painting, model making, quiz and Connexion was conducted .Most of the students were actively participated. All the deserved participants were appreciated with certificates , memento & cash prizes.

Along with Eye screening,complete Health check up was also done. Welcome address was delivered by Prof.Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Director, who presided over the function & highlighted our PA day. Ms. E. ADELINE SARA NISHAMA Senior Physician Associate,  Assistant Professor, Yenepoya School of Allied Health Science, Mangalore, Karnataka was invited as chief guest of the program. A White Coat Ceremony will follow, to honor our interns for both UG and PG students. Followed by a Workshop on the topic of Suturing Types and surgical Knots more than 230 Students were benefited and she congratulated the students for having chosen the right career and also motivated the students to develop their technical skills for better placement opportunities. Dr.A.Shanmugakani, MD, Director, Directorate of Medicine & Rural Health Services, Government of Tamilnadu, Chennai & Dr.P.V.Dhanapal, Medical Superintendent, Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College & Hospital, Salem, the Chief Guests of the program delivered the special address on the importance of Allied Health Science profession and also Congratulated the Graduands. Prof.Dr.J.Sabarinathan, Pro Vice Chancellor, VMRF (DU) delivered the Keynote address on “Student role in the growth of society”. Dr. Nagappan, Registrar, VMRF(DU), Dr.R.Shanmugasundaram, Director, Student Welfare, VMRF(DU) graced the occasion and Congratulated the Graduands. 592 UG and PG students of various branches of AHS received their degree out of which 17 students received gold medals, 11 received silver medals & 8 received Bronze medals

World Brain Day

Every year in July, World Brain Day is observed with the goal of raising awareness of brain diseases among common people all over the world. Based on this, the Department of Neuroscience Technology, School of Allied Health Sciences, Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (DU), Salem organized an awareness program on 17.7.2023. Prof.Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Director, SAHS, VMRF(DU) presided over the event. Dr.Pari Kodaiarasan, Neurosurgeon, VIMS Hospital, Salem, was invited as a Chief Guest. As part of this celebration, Neuroscience Technology students painted a wall on campus with the motto of creating awareness about the importance of Brain function. In addition, students donated a brain and spinal cord model(Made up of wood) to the college.

World Emergency Medicine Day

Department of Trauma Care Management, School of Allied Health Sciences, VMRF-DU.As a part of EMS Celebration Week 2023 and World Emergency Medicine Day, Students of TCM have organized various competitions over the week and performed a Mock drill on Disaster Management-Bomb Blast. The event was presided over by Chief Guests Mrs.S.P.Lavanya, IPS, DCP, Salem South, and Mr.Gowtham Goyal, IPS, DCP, Salem North, Salem City in the presence of Dr.K.MeenakshiSundaram, MD, VIMS Hospital, Salem and Dr.Ashok, Deputy Medical Director, VIMS Hospital, Salem. The Chief Guests were felicitated by Prof. Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Dean-AHS.The event was very well appreciated as it was highly realistic and the TCM team explained the steps in disaster management like the first aid to be given, TRIAGE, and also the post-disaster treatment at ER in Hospital Set up.

Theme: "Terrorism isn't Heroism" Honourable Dean and Director Dr. B sendilkumar sir preceded the event with Chief Guest Mrs. SP Lavanya Deputy Commissioner of Police Salem south, Salem city, and Wing commander  Yuvaraj S, commanding officer 5TN  AIR SQUADRON NCC. Cash prizes and certificates to the Winner and Runners were distributed by the Chief Guest. One minute of silent Tribute and pledge for National Anti-Terrorism Day was also taken by the gathering.

World Breast cancer awareness month is observed every year in the month of October  to educate people about breast cancer.On account of this & also in order to insist on fitness, NSS unit, SAHS Youth club, Department of Radiotherapy & Nuclear Medicine Technology, School of Allied Health Sciences,Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (DU) organized a “Fit India Freedom Run 3.0 - Pink Run - Mini marathon” event on 8.10.2022.

Mr.M.Madasamy,Deputy Commissioner of Police,Salem North,Salem City & Mrs.S.P.Lavanya, Deputy Commissioner of Police,Salem South,Salem Citywas invited as Chief guests for the event and flagged off the marathon.

The marathon was started nearby Ulavar Sandhai,Suramangalam and ended at Salem Railway junction via AVR circle, Sago serve circle & Reddipatti(5Km). The students of SAHS were actively participated in this event. The deserved students were appreciated with medals & certificates.

In continuation,the photo signature campaign was conducted at suramangalam, Salem with the aim of increasing more awareness on breast cancer to public.The campaign was inaugurated by chief guests.The Student volunteers emphasized & created awareness on breast cancer to the public, especially the women, through this program. They also distributed pamphlets with elaborate information on breast cancer to public and also collected signature from public on their photo.Nearly 150 women were signed in this event.

Prof Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Director, SAHS, VMRF(DU) welcomed all the dignitaries, invitees, parents, faculty and graduands and also delivered an annual report of SAHS. Dr.Asha Frederick, State TB officer & Additional Director of Medical & Rural Health Services, Govt of Tamilnadu, the chief guest of the programme delivered the special address to students. Dr.B.Jaykar, Registrar, VMRF (DU) ,the special guest of the programme delivered the keynote address. Dr.Gnanasekar, Director, IQAC, VMRF(DU) & Dr.R.Shanmugasundaram, Director, Student Welfare, VMRF(DU) also felicitated the occasion & delivered the felicitation address. In this ceremony, 592 students from various branches received their degrees and also 17gold medals, 11 silver medals & 8 bronze medals were received by SAHS students. The programme was well organized by Teaching & Non Teaching faculties of SAHS.

WORLD HEALTH DAY CELEBRATION-MEDICAL CAMP BY SCHOOL OF ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES,  VMRF -DU, Salem in Collaboration with VIMS Hospital, Salem.

Department of Public Health, NSS and Youth Club members of School of Allied Health Sciences and VIMS Hospital and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Salem, jointly organized a Medical CAMP to commemorate the WORLD HEALTH DAY 2022 on April 7th at District High Court .

Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar, Dean & Director - AHS, VMRF-DU, Salem,  Dr. K Meenakshi Sundaram, Medical Director, VIMS Hospital, Salem and other dignitaries inaugurated the camp by lighting the lamp and presided over the medical camp. Chairman of the Principal District Judge and Salem District Legal Services Authority Special Guest Honourable Mr.S. Kumaraguru, B.L.,delivered the Keynote Address. President of the Salem Bar Association, Shri. Muthusamy, Secretary Mr. Muthamil Selvan and other officials were also present on the occasion. 

More than 220 people, including Lawyers, Court Staff and Members of the public, attended the medical camp, which was held at the District Legal Services Authority. Free Blood Tests, Haemoglobin, Blood Pressure, ECG, and ECHO tests were performed on all camp participants. Obesity and height (BODY MASS INDEX) tests were performed. 

Medical advice was given by Consultants of VIMS Hospital.

The event was very well organized and executed by Faculty of School of Allied Health Sciences and Managers of VIMS Hospital.

Poshan Pakhwada Programme 2022 On the occasion of the Poshan Pakhwada Programme 2022, the National Service Scheme, SAHS Youth Club, Student Council Association, and Integrated Child Development Services organised a "Recipe Contest" on the theme of "Traditional Food for Mother and Child-Promotion of Millets for Dietary Diversity." 30 students from our college and 10 teachers from ICDS actively participated. The Resource person for the Workshop was Mrs.Arthi.J, NLP – Master Practitioner, Aarthi’s Kids Academy -  Managing Director, BNI-Training Director.The chief Guest for the session was Dr.Rajeswari.M, Consultant Psychiatrist, Professor and HOD of Psychiatry, Govt. Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital, Salem has been invited. The chief Guest for the session was Dr.Rajeswari.M, Consultant Psychiatrist, Professor and HOD of Psychiatry, Govt. Around 1500 students had participated in Level 1 of each contest and 58 of them had been selected for the Final round (Quiz Competition). Winner of the Final round had been awarded as “The Super Brain of SAHS” with Cash prize. All the contest for the students and the arrangement for the event have been done well by Mr.Rajaprabu.R, Asst.Professor, Incharge – Department of Neuroscience Technology &Ms.Ganga, Asst.Professor, Department of Neuroscience Technology under the guidance and support of Dean and Director Prof.Dr.B.Sendilkumar.

Inaugurated the Radiotherapy & Nuclear Medicine Technology Simulation Laboratory

School of Allied Health Sciences, VIMS Hospital Campus, Vinayaka mission's Research Foundation (DU)  established and ingurated the Radiotherapy & Nuclear Medicine Technology simulation Laboratory with the aim to give hands on pretty clinical training to its students. Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine students will be able to better understand the concepts and apply it during their clinical practice because of exposure in the well-equipped  lab. 

The lab was initiated and ingurated by Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar  Dean-AHS Mrs. V. Jamaican, Incharge-Radiotherapy & Nuclear Medicine, MS. B. Nikita, Asst. Professor, MS. Sherin Percy, Asst. Professor, Mr. R. Inbasagar, Asst. Professor & S. Antony Ruban, Asst. Professor and other facilities and students were present for the event.

On the occasion of World Sight Day,Department of Optometry of SAHS,Salem Campus created the awareness through Flashmob,BlindfoldedCycle Rally to emphasize on “Importance of Eyes”based on this year theme “Love your eyes”.Notices on eye care were distributed to the Public.The cycle rally was flagged off by the Police officials and Prof Dr.B.Sendilkumar, AHS-VMRF-DU.Around 140 students actively participated in the event to make it a great success.

Contests on the Theme of nutritious Food for pregnant women

On the occasion of poshan Mash National nutrition month dept of sports nutrition & National service scheme SAHS organised a Contest on the theme of Nutritious food for pregnant women on 20th to 21st September 2021. Winners of the competition had received an appreciation certificate & Medal at the Dias on the day of pushing maah nutrition month day celebration on 21st September 2021 at Sahs-skill lab auditorium at 2.00pm to 3.00pm.Cooking competition has also been held on the same day. Students actively participated and made healthy and highly nutritional dishes. 

World Ozone Day 2022

On the occasion of World ozone day 2021,Enivornmental Club & NSS of SAHS has proudly Celebrated the grand seed ball planting event & Saplings Distribution joining hands with Salem district forest division. The Chief Guest Mr. Mohan,  Forest Officer,  Dr. R. S. Shanmugam Sundaes, Director, Students Welfare, VMRF - DU, Inaugurated the event at Kanjamalai, Salem. Nearly 700 seed balls thrown widely and tree saplings were distributed to the public peoples on 15th September 2021

FOUNDER’S MEMORIAL DAY 2021

Founder’s Memorial Day was observed by School of Allied Health Sciences, VMRF (DU), Salem on 25.03.2021.On account of this day, NSS Unit, School of Allied Health Sciences, distributed the tree saplings at Founder’s Temple, University Campus, VMRF (DU). Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Director/SAHS presided over the event. This event was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chancellor Dr.A.S.Ganesan & Director Dr.Anuradha Ganesan, VMRF (DU) Salem.

And also SAHS organized a blood donation camp at College campus. Dr.M.Raveendran , Blood Bank Medical Officer, Govt.Mohan Kumaramangalam College & Hospital, Salem & Dr.Sarankumar, Medical Officer- Govt.Hospital, Omalur were invited as a chief guest of the programme. Totally 52 members of students & faculties were donated blood to District blood Bank office, Govt. Mohan Kumaramangalam College & Hospital, Salem.

Finally, the Director, Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Faculties & students of SAHS paid a floral tribute to Hon’ble Founder Chancellor, Dr.A.S.Shanmugasundaram,VMRF (DU) at college campus.

The whole programme was well organized by Dr.R.Dhanasekar,M.P.Varshini, Dr.S.Harishraj, Mr.R.Inbasagar, Mr.V.Vigneshwara & Ms.R.Ragitha, NSS & RRC Coordinators of SAHS..
