School of Allied Health Sciences, VIMS Hospital Campus, Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation (Deemed to be University), Salem, in collaboration with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, successfully organized the “Harit Yoga – Yoga Demonstration” as part of the International Day of Yoga 2025 celebrations.
This event was jointly conducted by SAHS Sports & Games, NSS, 5 TN Air (Tech) Sqn NCC, and the SAHS Youth Club under the leadership of our Hon’ble Chancellor, Dr. A. S. Ganesan. The Harit Yoga initiative integrated yoga with environmental sustainability through a series of impactful activities.
Prof. Dr. B. Sendilkumar proudly announced a grant of ₹2 lakhs sanctioned by MDNIY to support yoga-related initiatives and emphasized the importance of yoga in promoting physical health, mental well-being, and a balanced lifestyle.
A special yoga session was led by Dr. Parvathi, Associate Professor at Government Arts College, Salem and member of the Indian Yoga Association, who demonstrated yogasanas to an enthusiastic audience. She is a recipient of the “Yoga Ratna” and “Yoga Chakravarthi” awards.
Additional sessions were conducted by Prof. Palaniappan and Assistant Professors Mrs. Jamuna and Mrs. Adaikala Mari from the Manavalakalai Mandram, Shri Vethathiri Maharishi Yoga Centre, Salem, offering practical training on yoga techniques.
Over 1000 SAHS students formed a massive human Yoga Symbol on campus, visually embodying the theme. The event concluded with distribution of tree saplings to participants, reinforcing ecological responsibility.
Complementary activities included a yoga-themed poster competition and quiz, with certificates awarded to winners. The programme concluded with a collective yoga pledge taken by all attendees.
