INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION (2020) – REPORT
Yoga is a mental, physical and spiritual practice. The international yoga day was celebrated on 21st June to bring peace, harmony, happiness and success to every soul in the world. This was a great opportunity to imbibe the value of discipline.
On behalf of this, School of Allied Health Sciences, VIMS Hospital Campus, Salem and Aarupadi veedu Institute of Technology, VMRF jointly organized “International online yoga conference (Necessity of AYUSH in Present Scenario)” on 15th June 2020 to 21st June 2020 in association with Udhayoga.
The programme was started by Chief Guest Prof. Dr. N. Manavalan, Joint Director (Y & N), Govt of Tamilnadu & Principal, Govt of Yoga & Naturopathy Medical College & Hospital.
Dr.B.Sendilkumar, Director, SAHS delivered a Welcome address. Dr.D.Vijendra Babu, Vice Principal (Part Time Studies), AVIT delivered the highlights of the conference. The principal address was given by Dr.K.L.Shanmugam, Principal ,AVIT and special address was given by Shri.Amarjeet Singh Bharma, Founder & Secretariat of UK, All party parliamentary group, Indian Traditional Sciences.
Prof.Dr.B.Jaykar, Registrar, VMRF delivered a Presidential Address. Mr.A.Syed Mohammed, Director, International Affairs, VMRF & Dr.SAV.Sathyamoorthy, Director, Research, AVIT were felicitated this Occasion .
The first day session included talk by Dr.R.Elangovan, Professor & Head, Faculty of Yoga Sciences & Therapy, Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education & Research on the topic, “Medication and Yoga – Connecting Body & Mind”, the second day session by Dr.Shivaraman, MD & Chief Siddha Physician, Arogya Healthcare, on the topic, “Siddha and its Therapeutic Uses”. The third day session was delivered by Prof.Dr.Muthukumar, Head, Acupuncture Unit, Vijaya Health Centre, on the topic “Acupuncture on Human lives”, the fourth day session by Prof,Dr.N.Karthikeyan, Principal, Govt. Homeopathy Medical College on “Homeopathy- A future Medical System”, the fifth day session included a talk by Dr.Radha Krishnan, Consultant Physician, Nattika Ayurveda Beach Hospital on the topic “Dincharya”, and the sixth day session was delivered by Dr.Lara Abiesheikh, Founder & Director, Vinieyoga Healing Centre, on the topic “An Introduction to Yoga Therapy”.
NSS unit of SAHS, VMRF conducted an online yoga demonstration. The asanas were demonstrated by Dr.C.Parthiban, Yoga Trainer & Asst.Professor, SAHS, VMRF. In which the volunteers from NSS students & non NSS students of SAHS were participated in this online yoga demonstration. The online demonstration video has been uploaded in SAHS youtube channel (https://youtu.be/p0ied2q0xOY) & (https://youtu.be/yRt4RaPVD6Q). SAHS also created a pledge on “Awareness on Yoga” to public & students (https://fahs.ac.in/yoga-day-2020).It has been circulated to social media and n number of students & publics took pledge and got a certificate.
On account of this programme, Yoga competition was conducted on 20.6.2020. Yogarathna Yogi N.Pasupathi, Board Mmeber, TN YC, Chief Yoga instructor, Guru Yoga, Yoga kalaimamani, M.Sudhakar. Jt.Secretary, TN Yoga committee, Yoga Aachariya, T.Janaki, RBL certified Yoga Trainer, Prof . J. Thamaraiselvi, Ph.D Scholar, WCSC-Sky Professor India & USA, Dr.C.Parthiban, Yoga Trainer & Asst.Professor, SAHS,VMRF were acted as a panel juries of this competition.
For closing ceremony event (21.6.2020), Dr.R.Sivakumar, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Enforcement, Salem zone and Shri.R.Paneerselvam, Principal Director, MSME-TDC, Govt of India were invited as Special guest of this programme. Dr.P.Gnanasekar, IQAC Coordinator, VMRF, Dr.P.F. Kotur, Dean, AVMC, Pudhucherry, Dr.K.Meenakshi Sundaram, Medical Director, VIMS & other higher officals of VMRF were felicitated the closing ceremony.
Finally the deserved participants were appreciated with certificates and prizes by chief guests.
